737 products were listed for this study

At a glance...

The results of this monitoring show that the nutritional composition of cookies offered and sold in 2024 has not improved since 2019. On the contrary, saturated fat content has increased significantly. As a result, a smaller proportion of products meet the 15% DV thresholds for saturated fat in 2024 compared to 2019. In addition, a larger proportion of modified products have increased rather than decreased their saturated fat content. If no changes are made, the majority of cookies available in Quebec would have to display the nutrition symbol on the front of their packaging due to their high saturated fat and/or sugar content. Real efforts will have to be made to improve the nutritional composition of cookies offered and sold in Quebec in the coming years.
