Salty snacks

The Food Quality Observatory analyzed the salty snacks market in Quebec in 2020 and 2025. Here are a few tips based on its analysis:

  • Salty snacks that would have been required to display Health Canada’s front-of-package nutrition symbol are being purchased less frequently (-12 pp) than in 2020.
  • Salty snacks that have been reformulated since 2020 have reduced their saturated fat and sodium content, and they still account for the largest share of total sales (88%).

  • By 2025, 49% of salty snacks would be required to display Health Canada’s front-of-package nutrition symbol.
