A new tool for assessing food offerings in institutions

The Food Quality Observatory analyzes the eating habits of Quebecers. Since 2019, the research initiative has been working on developing tools to help healthcare institutions evaluate their services.

 

Created to help improve the nutritional quality of food in Quebec as part of the politique gouvernementale de prévention en santé (PGPS), the Observatory has been responsible since 2016 for collecting data on how Quebecers eat.

 

Alongside sector-specific studies aimed at assessing the nutritional composition of the main products purchased at grocery stores, a research initiative—funded by the Ministry of health and social services—is dedicated to measuring the quality of food offerings in institutions, primarily within the network of healthcare facilities.
